Trauma
You might be experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder if...
You feel on edge or constantly waiting for something bad to happen.
You have upsetting memories, nightmares, or flashbacks that are hard to stop.
Certain people, places, sounds, or situations bring up intense emotions or anxiety.
You go out of your way to avoid reminders of something difficult that happened.
You feel numb, disconnected, or like you're not fully present in your life.
You have trouble trusting yourself or others.
You feel easily startled, overwhelmed, or irritable.
You find yourself carrying guilt, shame, fear, or sadness related to past experiences.
For adults, therapy often focuses on understanding how past experiences continue to influence present-day relationships, emotions, and patterns while building new ways of responding that align with your values. Treatment may include trauma processing, somatic interventions, mindfulness, and parts work to support healing and restore a sense of safety and empowerment.
For preteens and teens, therapy is tailored to their developmental stage, helping them understand their emotions, build coping skills, strengthen self-esteem, and process difficult experiences in a way that feels safe and manageable. When appropriate, parents or caregivers are included as collaborative partners to help reinforce skills and support healing outside of sessions while respecting the teen's privacy and therapeutic space.
